Using relay to control amperage???

Post by valkyie »

Sorry this is not a science project could not find were to post my question. I am working on a project and I need some help please. I am trying to make a electric supercharger for my car. These things are expensive so I figured why not make one myself. So far I have burned up my 12V DC motors the kind use in kids ride on toys. I applied it directly to my car battery and it started to smoke. I see that electric superchargers that are for sale such as the E-RAM uses a relay in the wire harness. I was wondering is this relay used to control the amount of amps coming from the battery going to the electric motor? Can anyone help I kinda at a dead end with this project.

Hi valkyie,

I don't know the answer to your question, and you're right, this is not the right forum.

Some other sites that might help are:

http://www.allexperts.com/el/Electrical-Engineering/
http://www.wattflyer.com
http://www.diyelectriccar.com

I've listed these in order, so try #1 first, then #2 and #3.
Cheers!
