I've been working on this project but i am stuck trying figure out what a good hypotheses would be for this project. im also not sure what this project is trying to test
link here of the idea > https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p056.shtml

Hi - to find the hypothesis you need to read the objective stated clearly on the link you provided.
The hypothesis contains the independent variable ( the one thing that you will change) and the effect - or the dependent ( responding) variable. So, in the objective statement what will you be changing and what data will you collect?
Think about rewording the objective as a hypothesis statement as follows " If, the --------- is (increased/decreased), then the ----------- will (increase, decrease)"
If you are still not sure read the section about hypothesis to better understand what it means.
Hope this helps you to start on your way to a really fun experience.

I don't quite understand what you need to know.
Have you done this experiment already?

i think i got it now, the research Question would be: how does the length of the resistor is from the outlet affect the amount of energy generated by the light bulb?
tell me if it sounds good and if it fallows what the website is trying to say.

To build a simple dimmer switch and to investigate the relationship between resistance in the circuit and the amount of light produced.
Will you be increasing the resistance in the circuit and finding out how that effects the amount of light profuced ?

Yes I think you got it.
You are going to fill in the data chart as you increase the distance on the graphite in the pencil (independent variable)
Your graph will show the distance of the resistance on the X axis and the illumination for each on the Y axis (dependent variable)
