After researching, I found that volcano plot is a type of scatter-plot. The use for one is to to quickly identify changes in large data sets composed of reproduced data
A volcano plot plots significance versus fold-change on the y and x axes.
These plots are common in areas such as genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. This is mainly because these areas have many (thousands) of replicate data points and one needs to identify the meaningful changes between these sets.
