Cookie Project

Post by Yoki »

My daughter is the 3rd grade and is participating in a science fair project for her school. She wants to a project that involves baking cookies, but I don't know how I would be able to turn that into a true science project really. Are there any science questions about baking cookies that I can specifically target to help me base the project on?

Here are two ideas from our project database:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... est-cookie

In general, playing around with an ingredient in some way can work as a science project. For instance, changing how much butter or sugar goes into a cookie, hypothesizing how that's going to affect the cookie, and "measuring" the end result.

If she can settle for baking in general rather than cookies, perhaps something about yeast and its role in baking could work as a small project.

Hope some of that was helpful!
