Tardigrades aka Water bears

Post by RosaNegra »

I've chosen to use these special creaatures but I'm not completely shure how long I should keep them in the dried up stage since I don't want to kill these micro creatures...what should I do?
Thank you very much if you take your time to read ths. Even more if you answer.

Here is a website on some information on tardigrades which I hope will help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardigrade

I researched some information about the dried up stage of tardigrades and came up with this information:
"They can remain dehydrated in moss for several years, and then be rehydrated again. Lab tardigrades can easily be dried and rehydrated up to 10 times or more. They can only remain in the tun state however, as long as the amont of stored food in their body lasts. When the food supply is gone, death occurs. Tardigrades may live up to 60 years in the tun stage in ideal conditions."

Hope this helped.
