Hypothesis for what conditions are tornadoes formed

Post by lyddiejones »

Good Afternoon,

Doing a science project on Tornadoes.

Need help on forming a hypothesis on under what conditions are tornadoes formed.

We are going to build a tornado with dry ice warm water and a portable fan.

Have to state the purpose in a question.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Interesting experiment! The purpose can follow something along the lines of: Which conditions are needed for a tornado to form? Or, under which conditions do tornadoes form? The hypothesis is your prediction of the results, prior to performing the experiment. In this experiment specifically, your hypothesis should state the weather conditions that you think are needed for a tornado to form. An easy format for hypotheses can follow an "if... then.." pattern. An example for this experiment: If the air is warm and moist, and wind speeds are high, then a tornado will form. Hopefully this helps to answer your questions, but always feel free to reach out again.
Good luck,
Chloe

Thank You so much for the help.
Making a tornado with warm water dry ice in a bowl put in a box using a fan to make the tornado; once the cold and warm it hits together it creates white clouds then the air from the fan draws it up. There are also slits in the box. Trying to figure how to word this. We have to make some adjustments to the box for this to work.

What about:
Warm water and dry ice was added to a bowl. The bowl was then put into a box with slots and a fan. White clouds began to form as the fan forced air inside the box out and air outside the box came in. The converging winds was responsible for the formation of the "tornado."
