Changing equipment in Exothermic Reaction Rates

Post by ac0 »

Hello, I was wondering how I could change the oxygen tank situation in the Exothermic Reaction Rate science experiment, where I am investigating how different levels of oxygen affect the exothermic oxidation of iron powder. Is there an easier way to not include the oxygen tank in this experiment, or a different way to do it in general.

Thank you

Hi, one way is to change the duration which you blow oxygen onto the heat pack. Eg. 60 sec, 30 sec, etc. Another way is to keep the duration the same, but turn the regulator partially on to control the flow rate. You will need to have a way to measure the flow rate though.
