The first report only has the abstract for free. The actual report is very expensive!

I don't know. It sounds like a boring experiment.

Check out this website and see if it gives you and ideas. Check the links at the bottom too :)

If you are interested in seeing if one substance cleans better than another, you should look at some of the other threads about testing for germs by growing cultures on agar plates. Also, take a look at the Microbiology topics in the Science Buddies project ideas:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/mentorin ... ?from=Home

That might get you started with a project plan.

Good luck!

cpwgrl,

you can do a fairly easy/ simple experiment on your own...all you have to do is get some canned beets, the (2) soaps you want to use and cotton swabs.

then
1. rub your hands on money
2. wash with one soap,
3. cotton swab your hand, then rub swab on the beet.
4. keep the beet in an enclosed container.

do the same with the other soap and other piece of beet

after a couple days you can see which one cleaned the best by seeing which one has the most bacterial growth.

I don't think Dove soap is designed to act like a cleaner, it's first purpose is to take care about the skin...
