1. What are the independent & dependent variables?
2. What category would it qualify under?
3. What would make up the quantitative and qualitative data?
4. What would be the title of my sfp board??
5. What’s the point of doing this project, and how do i make it 1st place worthy?
6. What other projects in the 8-10th grade age group focusing on forensic science,ANYTHING THAT COULD BE ABOUT THE SPORT ROWING(crew) and botany do you suggest? THANKS A MILLION!

Hello pinkbear,

The URL you posted to identify the project of interest leads to a "Page not found" message. Please post again.

WW et al. the offending URL can be replaced with

http://tinyurl.com/9tqgnjv

pinkbear, since you have zero time, I'd advise going with the gel electrophoresis project you referenced (or tried to :( ).

Hi pinkbear,

The questions you asked can easily be answered by looking at the project summary and the URL: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ml#summary.

1. Just to make sure you do know the different parts of the scientific process and what a science project consists of, I'm directing you to this link:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ndex.shtml. It has valuable information on variables and data, in case you need a refresher or haven't learned it yet. Take a look!
2. Biochemistry (see the URL!)
3. See #1.
4. You could choose the title listed here on SB, which is "Forensic Science: Building Your Own Tool for Identifying DNA." However, I'm sure you can personalize it and get creative! Play around with it and see what you can do!
5. Usually you can find the purpose for a project in the Abstract, Objective, and Introduction. Also, if you want your project to really shine at a science fair, be passionate about it! Don't pick something just because you think it'll win. Science is about discovery, and if you're enjoying what you're doing, you'll be a winner from the start!
6. If you'd like to see other projects that suit your interests, go to the main page and type into the search bar your keyword.

For example, 'Forensic science' gives you the following links, besides the one you were initially interested in:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p066.shtml (intermediate level)
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p093.shtml (intermediate)
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p009.shtml (advanced)

Do the same for 'botany' and 'sports' and see what you get! Hopefully you find something you like! If your project is due in December, I think you'll have enough time! Go for it and have fun!
