Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Our science project involves proving that the less dense material will float. We conduct our experiment by releasing different matter in water and observing what happens. I was able to find the density of gasoline and propylene alcohol for instance, but don't know how to find the density of: apple cider vinegar, vegetable oil and grape juice. We found some but not all at this web site: http://www.simetric.co.uk/si_liquids.htm . Does anyone know the density of these three items of matter or where I might find it? TIA.

If you cannot find the density of a liquid readily available, you can calculate it yourself.

You will need to either borrow a scale from your school or purchase one that can probably measure to at least a tenth if not a hundredth of a gram accuracy for this to be somewhat accurate.

I am attaching this link. If you read the bottom, it provides a method in which to determine density of a liquid using a beaker/cylinder container. You will also need an accurate tube/pipe that has units in mL. This should be available in your chemistry lab.
