Hello,
I want to work on the HAMming with ISS project, but I don't want to have my parents to have to buy all this expensive equipment. I really like the project and know I can learn a lot of really cool stuff by doing it....how, who or where can I maybe rent the equipment for a week? Is this even possible? Or where do I go to get equipment inexpensively?

Thank you
Joe

Very good question. I don't know about renting, but here is a link to a site that provides just about anything you'd ever want for a ham radio

http://www.hamradio.com/

They sell used gear as well, which could save some $. Another way is to visit a used electronics shop. You have to know what you are looking for, but sometimes these places will have various old tunners and such that you can pick up at a great price. However, rarely can you find a complete system, so it takes shopping around and putting together.

Another great way is to find someone who has equipment they will let you use. There are thousands of clubs for enthusiasts. If you are in the USA, this link may help you find one such club in your area: http://www.hamdepot.com/

Just remember to get your parents permission before contacting any club or person.
