What is the relation of protein stability and how can this make an impact to my community?

Hi,
Connecting your project to a need in your community is a great way to make an impact!
Protein stability is a common topic. I wonder if you mean proteins in the body, or proteins in a solution you would use in the lab? You could start with a web search using terms like "protein stability in solution" or "human protein stability background". Or give me a little more information about the protein and how you will use it in your experiment, I can help you further.

Hello,
Thanks for replying to my post Tonya!
I am actually in collaboration with Han, Hphan30, and we are working with the protein GFP. We are using GFP to help contribute to research on the temperature range of the protein so it can be tested by how well it tracks after we expose it to a certain temperature. Though we are still unclear of how we can connect this project to helping the community.

Hi,
That's great you are working together. Since it seems like youhave a good grasp on the background questions, let's work from one post now, okay?

I'll reply to this one in a little bit. I am thinking on that, ok? I love how excited you two are to get started - that's great

Just to be sure GFP, is Green fluorescent protein? If it is, the answer to your question is....... Bioluminescence has been frequently looked at to provide an alternative energy source for lighting or using it to mark cancerous cells. Currently, there is a lot of research in using it as a marker but only a few studies that are trying to use it for an alternative energy. The stability of this protein is important in the characterization, so that you will know the parameters of how you can use it. (Such as a temperature study in relation to the amount of light emitted) I hope this helps.
