I am interested in doing a science project concerning human dreaming. Do you have any ideas of what I could do that would not include expensive equipment? As of now, I am not considering involving any surveys with this project.

Hi Naeh,
This is a very original idea for a science project. However, dreaming is a very complex subject and I can't think of a controlled experiment that you could do without expensive equipment. Generally, in a science fair project, you want to ask a question that can be answered by doing an experiment with measurable results. That's going to be very difficult with this subject.
Is there anything else that you are interested in? Perhaps we could suggest a different type of project. Why don't you try going through the topic selection wizard on this website?

Hi Naeh,
I would agree with Donna, if you are doing this for a science fair project it is going to be difficult to come up with a clear question that will get you a good grade. Plus you would need permission is you are going to use humans or animals in your experiments.
But it is still a really cool topic to investigate if you arent just interested in it for a science fair.

Hi Naeh,
I agree with the other experts. It's really difficult doing science projects on the human brain, and especially submitting it to a science fair. It will be really hard trying to get SRC/IRB approval.
If you want to get some information about how dreams work, go to
http://www.howstuffworks.com
it's a huge search engine divided into different categories. Choose the tab that most closely matches what you want to search for, and type "dreams" in the search bar. Your bound to get a hit.
Hope this helps,
