Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I'm kindof confused with my project I know what I want to do it on but the thing is whenever I look up information on it another question pops up in my mind to ask for the project to work.

When plate tectonics move they cause eruptions to happen, I know but how do I make a science fair project on that?

I know that because obviously I've studied that but also it keeps me interested because I live in Puerto Rico which is in the middle of two plate tectonics and when they move that will probably mean trouble for all of Puerto Rico. What I want to know are just like a sick person what would be the sideeffects and how would I know before hand just observing the senery that this is about to occur?
