Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I did "the effect of temperature on the heart rate of a brine shrimp". I tested the Heart rate at 10 Celsuis, 20 Celsuis and 25 Celsuis. The averages were as follows; 10C(119 beats/minute), 20C(154 beats/min) and 25C(200 beats/minute). are there any special functions of ectotherms that may effect/occurred the heart rate, that I could include in my conclusion?

For you conclusion you may want to include some information about the circulatory systam of a brine shrimp being an open circulatory system. You may also want to find out how this system may effect the results you have.

As a gentle reminder, you may want to consider taking more than one measurement for each condition. That way, you can calculate and average and a standard deviation for each condition.

If you're confused about what this means, please post back and I will clarify.

With regards to interpretation of your results, you'll want to consider the differences between ectotherms and endotherms. Would you expect the results to be different with an endotherm? Where the results what you expected? If so, why? or why not?
