Need Help with Hypothesis

I am planning to do the "Make a Colorimeter to Measure the Concentration of Blue Dye in Various Liquids" as a science fair experiment.
My question is about forming a hypothesis for this experiment as I am having trouble formulating one for this experiment. I was thinking about framing it around the linear relationship between the absorbance of light and concentration of blue dye.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi rstudent,

This is a pretty detailed, and very interesting experiment. I think you will have fun with it.

If I was doing this experiment, I believe I would establish a hypothesis something like this, "The concentration of blue dye in a solution can be determined by the use of a colorimeter"

Then you would go about performing the prescribed procedure and prove that you can do this.

I hope this helps.

Good luck and...

Have fun with science!

Thank you very much for your input, it cleared up some of the confusion I had and helped a lot!

Hi rstudent,
Can you tell me what Blue Dye you used for your project? I'm doing the same one and having a hard time figuring out which dye I'm supposed to be using for the solutions.
Thank you :)

Hi Chemshavon,

This project uses the dye called FD&C Blue #1. Take a look at the back of boxes of food coloring to find one that lists FD&C Blue #1 (or just Blue #1) as an ingredient.
