Pharmaceutical and agricultural companies utilize biochemical engineers. There are many cases were these companies utilize bacteria, yeast, fungi somewhere in the production process. Some of the organisms used have their DNA genetically altered by gene splicing, so genetic scientist, pharmacists, toxicologists, entomologists, process control engineers, industrial engineers, electical engineers, mechanical engineers, plant maintenance engineers, enviromental scientists and engineers, waste treatment engineers, safety engineers, quality control engineers, and many others collaborate with biochemical engineers in addition to the diciplines mentioned previously.
