So in school we're making an earthquake resistant house and I already have the house build (it's a pyramid house). But I desperately need help on what would be a good foundation for my house and I have limited items here. So the question is, does anybody have ideas of how I could do my foundation?
Thank you so much!

Hello,

I sounds lie you are working on an interesting science project. I live in Minnesota. We seldom think about earth quakes here, but I know how important designing a house that is resistant to their forces is in other parts of the world.

We are set here at the "Ask an Expert" board best to answer specific questions you might be having with your project. Your question is quite broad.

The best thing I can do for you at this time is to suggest you do some basic research on how to design buildings to withstand earth quakes. You might start here with a few web sites I found:

http://www.ehow.co.uk/how_7779509_build ... oject.html

http://science.howstuffworks.com/engine ... dings4.htm

http://www.reidsteel.com/information/ea ... ilding.htm

http://www.imaginationstationtoledo.org ... -building/

I'm sure there is a lot more information out there from which you can learn more.

When you get to the point that you select a system you would like to model, contact us again if you run into a specific problem with it. We'll do our best to help.

In the mean time, HAVE FUN!
