Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I have conducted observations on 2 of the 4 methods (melt and pour; cold process)of how to make soap from scratch. I'm having difficulty deriving an hypothesis statement. Any suggestions?

I need to understand what your experiment is about. I was not able to find a description of it on the Science Buddies web site. If you could provide more information about your experiment, we should be able to help you formulate a proper hypothesis.

Making soap from scratch using specified ingredients using either the melt and pour process or the cold process.

As you describe it, this does not sound very much like an experiment. What you are doing may be closer to what we call an "Engineering Design Project", see

What was your goal in making soap from scratch? Perhaps the engineering design Problem was
"how to make soap safely and economically at home" or something like that?
