Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I am doing an experiment called "Gamers Myth or Man?" I am not sure how to write a correct hypothesis. I am making two surveys. 1 given to non gamers asking their opinions on gamer characteristics and 2 given to gamers that have related questions to survey 1. I want to compare non gamer stereotypes to characteristics of actual gamers. I'm confused about the variables and how to measure and report my out comes. Please Help!!!

The purpose as I understand it is to compare the ideas nongamers have about gamers to the way gamers describe themselves. You could state the hypothesis like this: Nongamers as a group have erroneous, stereotyped ideas about the characteristics of gamers as a group.

The surveys that you give to the gamers are similar to those for the nongamers except they ask the questions of the person him or herself. The nongamers surveys asks them to answer the questions about gamers. In the first case you should get a series of answers that are characteristic of how gamers think of themselves. In the second case you have the opinions of nongamers about gamers.

Read the Procedures section in the project guide. It tells you about what type of question to ask, how many respondents you should aim to get for each group and how to compare the results and analyze them statistically.

Thank you, I have the surveys completed based on the science buddies website. I just wasn't sure the correct way to state the hypothesis. I have already gotten responses to half of the surveys. I think I'm on my way.
