hi. I am a 9th grader and wanted to do an experiment about conductivity to find out why some thing will conduct electricity better than others but I am having trouble thinking of one. what kind of experiments might be practical for to be able to do from home?

sn324846 - There are many approaches to experimenting with conductivity that you can investigate. First, I'd search for web references to conductivity (the inverse of resistance) and get a better understanding as to what characteristics of materials will readily conduct electric current. There is a very simple experiment in the Science Buddies pages that you can use as a reference. In addition, if you can acquire or borrow a digital multimeter, you have access to a wide range of resistance measurement ranges that will allow you to test many materials including liquids and document your results. Many of these meters are available for less than $10. In addition, search the Science Buddies project idea site and you will find several more experiments that fit your criteria. Good luck.
