My question is related to the project on BristleBot. What makes the robot move forward? Like it is stated as vibrations but how vibrations facilitate the movement?

Welcome to science buddies, thanks for the questions. Bristlebots are supper fun to build and quite easy. They are a class of simple to assemble robot where motion is caused by the transfer of kinetic energy from the motor, vibration, thru the robot to the ground. The motor should be one from or similar to the ones in cellphones that cause them to vibrate. These have small, off-center weights on the axle. The bristles rapid motion, from the vibration, enables the robots locomotion. It basically shakes its way across the ground. Battery and motor placement, bristle shape (one stray long bristle can interfere with the motion), and motor rotation direction all influence the behavior. Fine tuning these parameters until your bot moves in the direction you want is the fun part of these projects.
