Hi Joselle,

Welcome to Science Buddies! Do you have a project you would like to perform that involves glucose? This forum is a place to get help with science projects, not with homework questions.

If you look up information on cellular respiration, you should get an idea of why glucose is so important to our bodies.

Please post again (in this same thread) if you need help with a project.

My experiment is called "Sucrose & Glucose & fructose, Oh My! Uncovering Hidden Sugar in You Food"

I have learned that there are many types of sugars not just glucose. Sugar plays many factors in a persons health. I also read about how sugar can play a role with a person who has cancer. May this be true?

Hi Joselle,

It looks like you are interested in doing this excellent Science Buddies project: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p035.shtml

If you do an internet search, you can find various information about sugar "feeding" cancer cells. Here is a reputable site explaining how that is not exactly the case: http://www.dana-farber.org/Health-Libra ... Cells.aspx

Sugar is, however, an important factor in diabetes. If you are interested in linking your project (investigating the relationship among different types of sugars) to health issues, I recommend doing some research about diabetes.

I hope this helps! Please post back here if you have more questions along the way.

Best,
Heather
