I need help in my Chemistry project, I personally love Science but, of course, not everyone in my class likes it too  . Because I've been getting high grades, I've been put into a higher contest group. But now, they told me for the 2nd round, we must do an experiment on Ammonium Nitrate. I'm not really familiar with this chemical so can you people give me some projects where Ammonium Nitrate is part of the two (2) main variables? Please and thank you.

Did you even start by looking up what Ammonium Nitrate is and what its commercial uses are? Hint: Some of its commercial uses aren't appropriate for Science Fair projects. Other uses fall outside the Physical Science area of expertise (fertilizer for plants).

Did you look up the Material Safety Data Sheet to see what hazards it poses? This will limit what is acceptable and under what conditions you can experiment with it.

I was able to research a great amount of papers for ammonium nitrate and now I have an experiment about it.
But now, I need help on classifying it as an explosive.

You need to ask your teacher or whoever is administering the contest about the suitability of your specific project with Ammonium Nitrate. It doesn't matter what any of the experts here think about potential safety aspects, it is the local contest rules and regulations and interpretations that matter.
