My 10th grade Science project will investigate why different liquids have different boiling points. What are common liquids should I select so I can buy/obtain? I am considering pure water, Vinager, witch Hazel, olive oil, alcohol. And how many liquids must be selected: 2 or 3? Thanks much, James

You will need water as a control. I recommend you to get alcohol for your project. You should get alcohol derived from alkane, such as ethanol, butanol, since they are different by 1 carbon atom. 3 to 5 alcohols are good numbers for this project. Ethanol, propanol and butanol are easiest to obtain. You can get them from hardware stores or drug stores.

Thank You! Can you expand on what you mean by using water as the control?
