Hello,

I am doing the "Which Acne Medication Can Really Zap That Zit?" project: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p019.shtml. I need to order my supplies TODAY in order to get them in time to do my experiment at specific lab dates. I need these (http://www.carolina.com/prepared-biolog ... rient+agar) nutrient agar plates but they are backordered. Would these (http://www.carolina.com/prepared-biolog ... rient+agar) work in the same way? If not, are there any other suppliers I could order them from?

Thanks.

Hi ROwen,

I checked with Carolina Bio for you. The other plate you listed is a different formulation - it contains NaCl, so they don't recommend to try that one. They recommend this one instead (also a different formula):

Alternatively, you can try to find the regular nutrient agar plates from another store, like Amazon or Ward's Scientific. Or you may decide to buy the mix and pour your own plates.

Let me know if you need more guidance.

Hi Rowan,

Here is some more information about agar, including other potential sources for plates, or how to make your own plates from the powdered agar:

I hope that helps. Please post again (in this same thread) if you have more questions.
