What is the best environment to grow a kidney in.

Is it possible that the Neprhron cell type:Necessary for general kidney developments makeup,(TGF alpha and beta,IGF,PDGF) is the best possible to grow the cell type necessary fo general kidney development?

Hi,

I am not sure I understand your question. I just read the science project idea about making functional organs from stem cells, and your post reminded me of that. In there it was mentioned that engineering a kidney would be difficult because their are so many different types of cells working together in one organ... but engineering the nephrons only could be a good first step. I agree with that, and it is an indicator how far away we are from making functional kidneys in the lab... but it is possible!
