Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Hi all, my dad is right now 48 years old and a patient with good blood pressure. Doctor prescribed Cardizem for non heart related issues. After taking Cardizem for a week heartbeat rate drops to 36 and enters hospital emergency room and with in minutes goes into cardiac arrest. Does anyone have any idea with this? Is there any possibility of Cardiac arrest with Cardizem toxicity?
