Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Design a mechanically self propelling vehicle which will travel at least 75cm in a STRAIGHT LINE and then steer itself off course to avoid a brick kept at a distance of 1m from the starting point
*Initially all wheels of the car should be placed in a line parallel to the perpendicular reference axis as shown in figure.
*The car must steer left / right only after travelling for a distance of 75cm in a straight line
*Once you let go of the vehicle from the starting position, you are not allowed to externally apply force by any means.
*Use of electric/electronic components is NOT permitted

What have you already done to work on this project? We won't do the project for you, but we will help you troubleshoot particular problems. It is very difficult for us to help you without more details. Is this a science fair project? Or a project for a class that isn't related to science fair?
