I really need help
is there another way to extract iodine from seaweed? (not forming it into crystals)
and if possible using less chemicals?

It would be helpful to the experts if you would tell us about your science project because our answers will be different depending on what type of experiment you plan to do.
So, please tell us what your hypothesis is and what experiments you will do to test it. Depending on what you are going to do you may not need to purify iodine from seaweed. A simple water extract of dried seaweed may be sufficient. What is your source for seaweed and how do you know that what you plan to use contains iodine? Do you have crystalline sodium iodide to use as a positive control? What is your negative control?
