I need to change the independent variable of my science project so what is a great replacement for agarose in my gel electrophoresis chamber?

What is the hypothesis you are trying to test? And what are your current dependent and independent variables? (I'm guessing you had a different independent variable before, since you mentioned in your post that you had to change your independent variable.) It looks like a few substitutes are available. Some people have used plain agar or agar-agar, with somewhat poorer results than with an agarose gel. Some gels use polyacrylamide, but those gels are primarily used for proteins, not DNA.
