Richlyne,

This seems to be a life sciences type experiment, so I moved your post to that forum.

Also, please provide more detail of your experiment.

Like theborg said, we are interested in more details about your experimental ideas and questions. Its okay if you haven't figured everything out yet :) but more information about your thoughts and the research you have done gives us more to "go on" when developing answers....

Hi - I like your idea for your science project and it should be easy to set up if you do the research into how to isolate the ONE variable you want to test which is the color of light reaching the bean plant. So, think of all the things you need to keep the same - EXCEPT for the color of the light reaching the plant.
What data will you record that you can measure as a result of the different color light each group of plants?
This was a good experiment I used to have my biology students set up in our classroom in the beginning of the school year when we discussed scientific design and controlled experiments.
One of the challenges is always how to get the specific color of light you want for each group of plants. Look up colored light filters and see if you can come up with a design that would allow you to put 5 or so plants of each group in an area that gets only one color light - you have to make sure that only the red light is getting to the plants in that group.
Research on line for various ways to set this experiment up and you will see that it is quite doable and you should get some good results with the fast growing bean plants.
Good luck and hope to hear how it's going.
