I have a question about The Chills and Thrills of Roller Coaster Hills experiment on this website. What kind of spring and weights should I get?

Hi Zachawii,

From what is posted in the experiment details (https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... #materials), I would suggest that the material of the spring is not as important as how elastic it is. If you can pick it up and it stretches easily (like a slinky) then it's too elastic. If it doesn't stretch at all, then it's too stiff. You want something in the middle where you have to pull somewhat hard to get it to stretch. As for the weights, the size of this roller coaster would suggest that the smaller the weights the better. You should be able to find weights similar to those they use on fishing lines that should be acceptable. Something like this (http://www.amazon.com/Bullet-Weights-Ro ... 581&sr=1-6) would likely work the best.

Good luck!
