Cellphone Signal Strength Measure

Hello,
I am currently trying to start conducting my science experiment, which is to increase cellular strength using common household materials.
To conduct this experiment, it is important to have a machine that measures signal strength.
I found one machine that does this, however it was more than 2000 dollars, and I do not have the resources to purchase that expensive of a machine just for an experiment that I would use the machine maybe once or twice.
Therefore, I was wondering if anybody has a contact that I would be able to obtain one, or to just borrow one for this experiment.
Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Alisa

Hi Alisa,

My suggestion would be to check with local university/college engineering departments. There is a substantial amount of research in the engineering of cell phone antennas in these departments and they are likely to have something that would work for your purpose. Hope this helps!

Best of luck!

Hi science_alisa,

We have recently updated this project:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... #materials

If you look at the materials tab, there is a link to a company that lets you rent one of those expensive meters for a couple weeks, instead of paying thousands to buy one. If you do have access to a local college or university that will let you use one for free, like mkjacobsen suggested, that is of course a good option.

Hope this helps,

Ben
