Chem Science Fair Project - Hair Dye

I am experimenting to find how hair dye works on the different hair structures- Caucasian, African American, Mongolian/Asian, for my chemistry project. I am supposed to come up with questions for my topic and have a professional answer them. I'm not sure I'm asking the right questions, so let me know any other info you think would be useful to my topic.

Questions:
-How does hydrogen peroxide effect caucasian hair vs. African American or Asian hair types?
-What are the main chemicals in hair dyes and how do they work?
-How do pH levels take part in this process?
-Are there certain dyes/chemicals that work better for a specific hair type?
-What's the difference between the various hair types?
- How does hair dye work?

Thanks!

Hello faithalia,

Hair dye is not something I am very familiar with but I think that the questions you've listed should be very helpful in your research. Some other questions that come to mind are:

What causes the natural color of hair?
Are the differences among natural hair types chemical or physical?
Is hair dye effectiveness the same for different hair types?
How can one measure the effectiveness of a hair dye?

I hope this helps. Please ask again if you have more questions.
