What is the reason scientists expose planaria to UV light?
Is it because we want to see how we can compare that to UV light exposure on humans?
Is it because we want to see how UV light affects planaria regeneration?

This is a good question. I think you have already suggested some good answers to your own question. The primary reason is that planaria offer the opportunity to study the effects of UV light on basic biological processes common to many forms of life, including humans.
