I need help trying to figure out which acne medications would be more effective, either if they would be Bacteriostatic or Bactericidal. I'm having trouble trying to set up this experiment would it be better to work with E.coli bacteria or P Acne bacteria?

Hi,

Propionibacterium acnes would be the most relevant choice for evaluating acne medications, but you would have to ask your school or science fair to see if you would be able to use this bacterium.

There is a standard method for testing the bactericidal or bacteriostatic efficacy of various compounds called the Kirby-Bauer diffusion test. It is simple to do but takes a long time to explain so please read about it here: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p014.shtml

Paula's Choice...? That's what my "...17, going on 18!" brother, David, uses. He almost never has zits. Are you looking for that sort of thing?
