Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I have picked this project for my 8th grade STEM Fair project- but I'm absolutely confused on how to write the hypothesis. I don't need a hypothesis written for me, just an example? Because although I don't understand a few other things, I mainly don't understand how I would write the hypothesis/ what "problem" I am solving (in a manner of speaking.) Does anyone know how I could write the hypothesis for Chemistry of Hair Highlights? I know how to write a hypothesis, just for this project I'm not so sure what it would include... Does this make sense? Sorry, I'm stressed! Any suggestions ??

I assume you are doing the hair highlights project from the Science Buddies website (https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ml#summary). If that is the case, you are investigating the effects of different types of chemical treatments on hair. You may want to narrow down the experiment further, which will help you come up with a more focused hypothesis. For example, you could test the effects of different types of hair lighteners, different lightening techniques, or different lengths of treatment time.

A scientific hypothesis explains what you think will happen to the dependent variable when the independent variable is changed. So if you were investigating the effects of different treatment times, your hypothesis would sound something like "If the treatment time for hair highlights increases/decreases, then the resulting hair will..., because...."
