I am making a list of constant and variables for my project "how many digits can you remember". I believe the constants are the same numbers that I will be reading to my participants and the participants are the variables. Does that seem right?

Hello,

the things that are the same throughout the experiment are the constants and those that will change are the variables. So with those basic definitions, you can say that the digits are a constants, assuming you use the same digits for each test. If you decided to switch a string of letters for the numbers than you could make that a variable. The participants can be a variable, if you give them all the same sequence to remember. However, you could make them into subgroups by age or gender or some other designation and then each group would be a variable.

In general look at whether the thing is changing or not anytime throughout the experiment to decide whether it is a constant or variable.

Have Fun!
