Calculating the range of a FM transmitter

Hi friends!

I need to calculate the range of a home-bulit FM transmitter. I have values of the power and the voltage coming out of the antenna, and I know everything about the receiver, so, how do I calculate how long it can transmit before the signal gets messed up?

Regards
Jesper

Hello allahu2000,

I’m not at all familiar with this topic but after a bit of online searching I did find a few sites that may be of interest:

Evidently the transmission range depends on the output power as you said, as well as terrain, obstacles, antenna coverage pattern and other factors. Perhaps you can make an estimate of your range with some assumptions about these factors.

I hope this helps. Please post again if you have more questions.
