What is a good question/hypothesis for building a hydrogen generator?

Hello,
I am building a hydrogen generator for my middle school science fair and I can't think of any good questions or hypothesizes
for it. Any ideas? I need this answered by Monday next week because this is when we turn in our experimental design. :D

Hey there.

What an ambitious project! Congrats up front on picking something so interesting and cool. So, unfortunately I am not going to be able to help a lot with this since I know nothing about your project details wise (perhaps you are doing this project? https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... l#summary. )

Just remember that when you are picking a hypothesis that If/Then questions are the key. I would try to hone in on why you made the choice to build the generator. Were you looking at hydrogen generators as a more realistic alternative than other generators energy output wise? Cost wise? Clean energy wise?

Just think it over a bit, and let your imagination go wild.

Here is a bit more information on hypothesis in general https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... esis.shtml

Good luck, and have a great time.

Elizabeth

Hi heineraa,
It seems as if you are doing a demonstration instead of an experiment.
From what you have told us, you are making a hydrogen battery, but there are no variables you are changing.
Are you seeing if certain "ingredients" will make the hydrogen battery more powerful?
If a homemade or store-bought battery is more powerful?

Just know that a hypothesis is what YOU think. There's no going wrong with a hypothesis.
Remember that you should always include reasoning behind your hypothesis.
For example, a basic format for a good hypothesis is:
I think that _______, BECAUSE _________. State what you think and back it up with reasoning.
This reasoning should come through a bit of background research.

Most of all, have some fun! Don't stress too much. :D
