Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Okay, first off my thanks go to all administration who is here to help students and teachers. Your help is appreciated!

Now on to my question, I've decided to do the Centripetal Force marble project for my science fair (https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... #procedure).

Now I've read through the procedure and it all makes sense, but I have just one question. Is there an independent variable in this experiment? Maybe there is and I'm just not seeing it, but I'm not sure. Thanks for the help!

As you know an independent variable is something that you change in your experiment to get a response in a dependent variable. After reviewing the project procedure, I think the independent variable is the person spinning the Jello cups (either yourself or an adult helper). Any effect of the “spinner” on where the marbles go in the cups would be due to differences in speed or force of the spinning.
