otakuyuki14 - You just have to make an electrical connection. Twisting the wires will be fine.

There is equipment to remove iron and other impurities from water but it is a large piece of equipment with many and complicated stages. Is it possible that they overlooked a simpler possible solution? Could you manipulate the water to form magnetic iron oxide (magnetite, Fe3O4) which could be removed by magnets placed along the shafts leading to the surface and therefore removing the iron?

Hi kye_j,
These forums are targeted toward K-12 students, parents, and teachers who are working on science projects. It sounds like your question might be about something different. What is the hypothesis you are trying to test? If your question is not related to a K-12 science fair project, then a different set of online forums would be a better place to ask your questions.
