Water/Air reciprocating Machine.

Can this machine work?

Components:
a) A volume of water
b) A volume of compressed air

Important properties of the components:
a) The water weighs more than the air
b) The air exerts a higher pressure than the water

Can the machine work like this? :
1. Compressed air forces the water to a higher level.
2. The water then falls to a lower level because it's heavier than the air.
3. Goto 1.

This is a general science question, not science fair.
Can you suggest a good place to ask it please?
