Refractive Index

Hi All,

I am currently doing a physics project in Australia. I am using one of the science buddies idea and is looking for a relationship between the refractive index and the concentration of sugar solutions for different concentrations. I am having trouble finding a glassware that i can hold my solution in without it refracting the laser beam too much. Is there any way that i can measure the angle of refractions without passing the ray through the glassware?

I had also read texts where they say the optical density is not the same as the physical density of the substance. Can anyone explain this to me please?

Thank you.

Hi, if you do a search for "optical density" "physical density" on google, a couple of the results describe the difference.

Can you tell us what type of glassware you have tried, or looked at ?
