Research Topic (Antibiotic Resistance?)

Hi,
I am currently a junior in high school and am looking for research ideas for a science fair that I would like to enter in March. I'm interested in antibiotic resistance, but am open to anything relating to the human body. I find biology to be fascinating, and hope to be able to perform my own research.
I was wondering how I could possibly narrow down my research topic to something more specific, as well as if there are any other project ideas that may be more current or easily accessible to a high school student.
Thank you!
Tt

Hi Tt,
Thank you for your question. Choosing a science fair topic can be very difficult, and furthermore, you certainly need to have quick access to any necessary materials to complete your project. I would suggest making a list of several topics (general areas, nothing very specific at this point) that are of interest to you and then rank them. Then do an internet search for potential ideas relevant to the areas you want to explore and be sure to look through the project ideas on the ScienceBuddies website. As a general example, some areas you may want to explore could include antibiotic resistance (as you mentioned), UV sensitivity, effect of chemicals/agents that affect colony formation, etc.
It will be easier for us to guide you once you have identified an area within biology that you would like to pursue further for your project. Let us know and we'll be happy to help you further.
Best,
Pharma

Hi,
You can start brainstorming by using the keyword "antiobiotic" on the science buddies website:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ntiobiotic
Read through some of the project ideas and see if any topics grab your interest. Do the same with the keyword "microbiology."
You also mentioned that you are interested in learning about the human body. Make a list of questions you have about the human body. Use keywords from your list to search for different science project ideas.
Once you narrow down your topic ideas, you can get more specific guidance on how to proceed with a project.
