Hello GmesPro,
Is this the science project that you are considering?

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ml#summary

This project is labeled "Advanced - hard" and also marked with an *, which means that it only gives the general idea of the project. This means that the student will need to do most of the background research. There are other project ideas in the Science Buddies list which provide much more information to get the student started.

The project summary does give links to instructions for building the X-ray machine at home, so you should read that carefully to judge whether the scope of the project is within reach of your middle school student.

There is also a link to a discussion of radiation safety. This is essential information for any project involving X-rays.

Please let us know if you or the student have more questions.
