My daughter has chosen this as her 3rd grade project. We are having trouble developing a hypothesis other than based on our research, if less water is used, then it will take less time to cook the pasta. Any feedback if we are on the right track?

Hi there!

The Pasta Puzzle is such a fun (and yummy) experiment to do. This project test for the effect of
the amount and temperature of water on its boiling time and its pasta cooking time to al dente.
I would have the hypothesis include a statement about the temperature of the water (ex: boiling or cool), the amount (qts.) and the amount of time (ex: less or more).

Just an Example: If 2qts. of cool water is used to cook pasta, then it will cook faster than using 4qts. of boiling water.
Here are some tips on writing a hypothesis: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/blog/201 ... thesis.php
