I'm doing a science fair project on what glue makes pointe shoes harder. And I need to figure out how to measure the hardness. Any ideas?

Hi Ballet2379,
Sounds like a great experiment!

Please take a look at the following link as one possible way to define "hardness"
http://hardnesstesters.com/Applications ... asics.aspx

One simple way to do this is to drop the same object at different height onto the test subject and then measure how much it deforms / indents. Hope this helps!

Please let us know if you have any more questions.
Good Luck!
Willey

P.S. If you want more information, please use the term "rockwell hardness" for your search term in google. (otherwise, if you just use hardness, you will find lots of materials related to water quality.)

Hi.
That did help. I don't have any other questions but if I do I'll ask. :D
