difference standard curve and validation curve

Trying to get my grip on this...
when performing a standard curve, one seeks to check qPCR efficiency ( gold star at -3,4) but,
when performing a validation curve on the same Cq values used in making standard curve, one seeks to check primer efficiency (<0,1) e.g. when wanting to compare target gene expression and endogenous gene expression
Why is it that if my two standard curves for target gene and endogenous gene are alike (both in the range 90-100% efficiency), I still make a validation curve ? What is it my standard curve can t tell me about my primer efficiencies ?
